Where Do Animals Go on Vacation?

Today I have a book that answers the question “Where do animals go on vacation?” Would you believe that your house is the perfect spot?  In this fun twist, readers discover how animals enjoy their time off while we are away in the woods and let’s just say a dance party is not out of the question.

Don’t forget to follow One Great Book on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or by email so that you don’t miss a single story that has all the animals plugged in for their break.

Title: The Great Indoorswhere do animals go on vacation the great indoors

Author: Julie Falatko

Target: Preschool-Grade 2

What this book is about:

Our story starts with a family going off on a camping trip.  As they relax in the woods, the animals move into their home for a relaxing week of their own.  Teen bear can’t wait to use the bathroom and all her styling products.  There are ice cubes for drinks and plenty of cell phone coverage.  A kitchen means ice cream and toast!  But the stress of maintaining a house and living with others means the animals are ready to move back home when the week is up, just when the family returns, how convenient.

Why I love this book:

  • The premise of this one is really fun.  The grass is certainly always greener when you are on the other side and the idea that the animals need a break from nature is pretty cute.  Of course, it all comes down to what we are used to, as both groups want to go back to familiar surroundings in the end.
  • Great artwork by Ruth Chan as she easily shows the chaos of life in a confined space and the animals enjoying the convenience of modern technology!

Who this book is for:

Great for kids who enjoy a good chuckle.  Fun book if your family is about to go on vacation!  You never know what you might find when you get back.

Final thoughts:

There really is no place like someone else’s home!
