Everyone Loves Cupcakes

Ok, admit it.  Everyone loves cupcakes.  So how could I pass up a picture book with the perfect title?  This is from the duo who brought us Everyone Loves Bacon so I knew it would be irresistible, just like its namesake!  Now if they could write an adult book next, Everyone Loves a Glass of Chardonnay perhaps?

Don’t forget to follow One Great Book on Facebook, Twitter Pinterest or by email so that you don’t miss a single picture book that highlights the two basic food groups.  What?  Cupcakes and Bacon don’t count?

Title: Everyone Loves Cupcakeeveryone loves cupcakes

Author: Kelly DiPucchio

Target: Preschool – Grade 2

What this book is about:

Cupcake is adored by all. Coffee loves her “a latte.” Brownie is nuts about her. But she is so busy trying to be perfect that eventually no one wants to spend time with her. It isn’t until she starts showing her true, less than perfect self that others come around and want to share their thoughts and feelings with her. For the record, doughnut shares that he feels empty inside and croissant is a little flaky.

Why I love this book:

  • Let the puns begin. This book is punny to the max. Some of the humor both parents and kids will guffaw at and others jokes may go right over kids’ heads.
  • The illustrations by Eric Wight are fabulous. Just as he did with Everyone Loves Bacon, he delivers bold, colorful pictures full of charm and whimsy.

Who this book is for:

Great for kids who like silly puns and goofy humor. Of course if you love cupcakes, this book is a must read.

Final Thoughts:

Another reviewer noted that sometimes the jokes get in the way of the message, and I agree with that sentiment. However I just adore these books so it is not a deal breaker for me.
