The Most Epic Sleepover Ever

How fun is a book for kids about the most epic sleepover ever?  This is The Hangover for the tween set, with a G rating of course.  This book is a mystery and a humorous escapade with silly antics galore.  I think any girl will think twice about hiring a hypnotist as party entertainment after reading this book.

Title: The SleepoverSleepover most epic sleepover ever

Author: Jen Malone

Target: Grades 4-8

Series: No

What this book is about:

Meghan is nervous/excited about her first sleepover. She has never been able to stay over at someone else’s house without having her mom come pick her up. But tonight is going to different. It’s going to be EPIC! The fun begins when one of the party guests invites a hypnotist over for some entertainment and games. The problem is the next morning they all wake up with no memory of the night before. And did I mention there are baby chicks in the bathtub, one girl has shaved an eyebrow off, they have acquired the sweatshirt of the hot boy next store and the birthday girl is missing? Welcome to The Hangover for the middle school set! Squarely rated G of course.

Why I love this book:

  • This one is laugh out loud funny. While your kids will have no knowledge of the movie on which it is inspired (I hope), they will get a kick out of our three friends trying to piece the wild night together as they pick up clue after clue along the way. That darned shaved eyebrow makes me giggle every time!
  • Yes the story is far fetched, but it never takes itself too seriously so it is all in good fun. This is light, fluffy fare that makes a perfect beach/weekend read for girls needing a humorous getaway.
  • I enjoyed the little romance that was perfectly age appropriate and not too mushy.

Who this book is for:

This book is great for fans of Jen Malone’s other series You’re Invited or girls who just need a lighthearted laugh.

Final thoughts:

This is a clever premise that delivers!
