Title: The Great Puppy Invasionpower to the puppy the great puppy invasion

Author: Alastair Heim

Target: Preschool – Kindergarten

Series: No

What this book is about:

In the town of Strictville, the motto is “All work an no play makes for a great day!” When puppies start invading their town, the townspeople panic after all fun is forbidden. They try to get rid of the adorable creatures by chasing them, but that only delights the canines. Throwing sticks doesn’t work either, they just get returned. Then Little Teddy takes a chance and sits down with one of the dogs, and the town becomes smitten. They vow to never be afraid of cuteness again, which is a good thing for a certain cat waiting in the wings!

Why I love this book:

  • This is the perfect book to ham up at story time. The absurdity of running away from awe-inducing puppies will not be lost on even the youngest listener. Their attempts at getting rid of the dogs only make these animals love the citizens all the more.
  • The illustrations by Kim Smith are wonderful. Her rendition of a cute puppy is just downright irresistible as well as her befuddled citizens.

Who this book is for:

Great for animal lovers and kids who enjoy humor in their stories. If you and your kids like cute picture books such as Next to You: A Book of Adorableness, this one is a perfect fit.

Final thoughts:

Some invasions are better than others.
