Kids Will Clamor for This Early Reader

It is so much fun when you find a book and know that it will be a hit with your kids.  The Bad Guys is that book.  Kids will clamor for this early reader because it is funny, sarcastic, full of slapstick humor and it has some well timed fart jokes.  Even the adults will catch themselves giggling a time or two!

Don’t forget to follow One Great Book on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or by email so that you don’t miss a single story where the worst bad guys in fairytale history embark on a plan to rehabilitate their image and as you can imagine, they encounter a sceptic or two.

Title: The Bad GuysBad guys kids will clamor for this early reader

Author: Aaron Blabey

Target: Grade 2-8

Series: This is the first book in a planned series

What this book is about:

Mr. Wolf has not been particularly happy with the way he has been portrayed. Just because he is known for impersonating Grandma doesn’t mean he’s a bad guy. He gathers his friends, a shark, a piranha and a snake in an attempt to create the Good Guys Club and rehabilitate their image. His friends are not so sure … they like meat. But off they go to save a kitty, not eat a kitty and with that success, a dog rescue is soon in the works. Will doing good change these carnivores? Can the bad guys really swear off their evil ways?

Why I love this book:

  • This is funny stuff. A lot of sarcasm, word play, slapstick humor and fart jokes keep the laughs coming. But dare I say the humor is smart so both kids and adults will love this book, yes even the fart jokes.
  • The illustrations are perfect. Whether we see kitty starring at four sets of sharp teeth, or shark dressing up as a lovely young lady to fool the dog catcher, the pictures add so much to the text and the humor of the book.

Who this book is for:

Great for reluctant and early readers. This book gives off a big kid vibe and so I imagine that both younger and older kids will really enjoy this one.

Final thoughts:

I can’t wait for the next one in this series. A winner!
