Cute Book About Siblings

Today I have a really cute book about siblings.  Do you ever find that one child wants just what his or her sister/brother has acquired?  If this has happened to you, then this book is a perfect addition to your family.  And it has adorable guinea pigs, I mean come on.

Title: Philomena’s New Glassescute book about siblings philomena's new glasses

Author: Brenna Maloney

Target: Preschool – Grade 2

What this book is about:

Philomena, the guinea pig, really needs a pair of glasses. With her new glasses, she can finally see her sisters Audrey and Nora Jane more clearly. However, if Philomena has glasses, Audrey must get them too, and Nora Jane certainly doesn’t want to be outdone so spectacles for her as well. When Philomena gets a handbag in which to carry her glasses, the cycle starts again. However, the itchy dress is the last straw for Nora Jane who decides that maybe all the sisters don’t need to have the same things … or do they?

Why I love this book:

  • Ok, first off the guinea pigs are beyond cute. What kid can resist those cute little furry friends in their glasses with their handbags full of yummy snacks? Irresistible!
  • I don’t want to discount the narrative. Brenna Maloney has written a really funny story that perfectly showcases the humor of siblings that can’t live without having what the other one has acquired. At times even they realize how absurd the situation has become, but they just can’t help themselves. Sound familiar?

Who this book is for:

Great for any kid who has a sibling. A wonderful book for kids who like cute things.

Final thoughts:

I can’t wait to see what these guinea pigs get into next!
